How our kids see DEI in practice

anted to share my reflection on DEI form June 2024. and I believe it is worth reading.

It is end of a hashtag#school year and hashtag#DEI hashtag#PrideMonth so let me know what I have learnt form my kids.

Kids are super smart you know? They simplify things we adults overthink and overdo. Learning form them is a fascinating experience really.

One of the things I have noticed my older son does is calling their friends form school and beyond "brother" ("bracie" in Polish). And for them the word hashtag#brother has no hashtag#gender correlation, so they all use that while talking to each other. Obviously including hashtag#girls talking to girls.

And I was fascinated by this, as the word "brother" brings mutual hashtag#respect, knocks down unnecessary barriers, ads a tiny "family" or "close relative: component even if on a bit subconscious level. Makes the whole conversation and their relations more polite. It is gender neutral and just very very simple.

The other "idea stolen with pride" as a hashtag#LifeHack form my older boy is replacing shoelaces with silicone ones (yes, kids simplify things as mentioned). I have been using colorful ones to manifest my support for various hashtag#diversity groups as a daily outfit not just for a pride month. And yes, I am happy to do it on conference, stage, customer meeting or anywhere really. Just a daily outfit because I can!
